"Doing Nothing" Ritual 〰️

Most of us have trouble
sitting alone, quietly,
doing nothing;
if you haven’t
cultivated the habit.
We have the need
to do something,
either to check our inboxes
or social media, to be productive. .
We would have less problems
if we could just learn to sit alone,
in a quiet empty room,
with contentment. .
.
If you’re content to sit alone quietly,
you don’t need to eat junk food,
to be lost in thought,
or feel like you need to be
constantly busy and productive. .
.
When you are content
you don’t need anything else.
It solves a lot of problems.
You would be at ease. .
.
So; let’s try to sit in the mornings
as a home retreat ritual
while our coffee/ tea is brewing. .
.
Even for a few minutes, at first.
Not easy, but it is worth the try.
This way we have a chance to learn
to listen to our thoughts, learn to watch ourselves, observe the urges and just sit still and not act on them. And just simply be.
When you practice this everyday little by little you cultivate this ability to be content with stillness, and with yourself. .
And you cultivate a space in time
just to be simply PRESENT.
