We can bring mindfulness practice into our home retreat. This would uplift our energy and mood especially in these unprecedented times where most of us are staying at home and working from home. Scientists repeatedly emphasize that movement in general is very beneficial to our health and wellness. Even placing our attention to our body like 5-to-10 minutes in the middle of working hours can be tremendously effective. Thanks to @alice.hobday.yoga for sharing and reminding us all of these wonderful insights and practical suggestions.

 More words from @alice.hobday.yoga : Leaning into curiosity, I'm reminded that being curious allows for the opportunity to notice and learn from observed information, rather than making assumptions about ourselves and our experience. It can change how we see things. When we think we already know, we stop being curious, and when we stop being curious we stop learning.

Movement and mindfulness practices offer the opportunity to explore this in the context of our bodies. As we move, we endeavor to hold our attention on the arising sensory information. Naturally, previous experience, thoughts and learned ideas can inform our experience and we often embrace these assumptions as reality. .

What would it be like to put aside our assumptions and genuinely inquire about how it feels right now....? Am I feeling sensations? If so where? What are the qualities of the sensation? Does the experience remain the same or change?

Acknowledging that in trauma sensitive work this type of inquiry can lead towards triggers and traumatic memories. And therefore safety, on all levels, is paramount.
