Inarticulate Hour

If you ever wonder where our inspiration for the name of our new blog “Inarticulate hour” comes from, it is from a sonnet titled “Silent Noon,” written by an English poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

In his sonnet, he depicts a "period of silence" during the day that suggests a recess from of distractions and noisiness of life. He calls this duration of silence “inarticulate hour.”

In that hour, he suggests, we learn who we most truly are, and what we most deeply love, even before we come up with thoughts, ideas, and feelings we want to express or arguments we want to make. In a way, this is also to argue that we need to develop the ability to look at ourselves objectively to discover our true-self and accomplish a level of clarity.

Just like what we partly intend to do by practicing meditation...

We have always been fascinated by this symbiotic relationship with simplicity and clarity, especially when working on our own branding projects. In fact, when you closely examine successful brands, you see in each of them a razor-sharp articulation of a "brand purpose", boiled down to a couple of sentences, ideally a single word, which is one of the hardest thing to achieve. In doing so, we need to constantly and relentlessly focus on the most relevant by cleaning out the clutter, edit out the unnecessary.

We think that to be able to reach that elevated level of focus, and clarity and express ourselves effectively, we all might need that "stillness" in our lives; we all might need to slow down...

Isn’t it true that it is so easy to be distracted in today’s digital landscape and social media messages surrounding us and forget the opportunity to embrace the moment in which we’re living right now? Maybe the moment we start slowing down, start listening to inner-selves, we'll be able to see things clearer and reach out the wisdom we always had...

Here, our intention is to practice and share our learnings on this path of slow-living in tandem with meditation, mindfulness, nutrition, travel and creativity.

And by sharing these experiences and discoveries, we sincerely hope to inspire, collaborate with and help others.

Now, you're all very welcome to join us in this inarticulate hour!
